Stretching from Petres to the resort of Georgioupoli lies a vast, golden sandy beach. With plenty of organized facilities, beach bars, and tavernas, this beach area has something for everyone. For those seeking solitude, the expansive beach ensures you can always find your own spot. Further along, Georgioupoli Beach (32 km) is renowned for its calm, shallow waters, perfect for families with young children.

Crete is famous for its stunning southern beaches with clear, pristine waters. Preveli beach is a famous beach on the south coast and an area of natural and protected beauty with a beautiful palm forest. Preveli beach is located at the mouth of a river that comes from the imposing Kourtaliotiko Gorge. Walk up the side of the river to discover rock pools in which to swim, taking the experience of Preveli beach to the next level.

Other noteworthy beaches include Skinaria, Ammoudi, and Damnoni. These beautiful bays are also excellent spots for snorkeling.
